Blastocystis in the gut microbiome of children and young persons from six countries of three continents

Blastocystis species is the most prevalent eukaryotic parasite of the human gut. Its prevalence and subtype distribution is still incompletely understood. Our aim was to assess the prevalence, quantity and subtype distribution in children and young adults from six countries of Africa, Asia and Europe.

芽囊原虫属（Blastocystis）物种是人类肠道中最为普遍的真核寄生虫。其流行率与亚型分布情况仍未得到完全阐明。本研究旨在评估来自非洲、亚洲及欧洲六个国家的儿童与年轻成年人群体中的感染流行率、寄生虫载量及亚型分布特征。
