Restore habitat for migratory species in Bayswater wetlands

The project addresses threats to aquatic environments and migratory species of a nationally important wetland by protecting riparian and wetland vegetation from degradation and fragmentation. Collaborating with community groups strengthens the project as they act as stewards beyond the term of the project. The project protects and buffers native vegetation, builds resilience and affords native vegetation the best chance to survive the effects of climate change. The project increases biodiversity in natural areas, increasing the connectivity and improving biodiversity of significant pockets of native vegetation collectively. Protection of these sites is paramount to the migratory species that frequent these areas.

本项目针对国家级重要湿地的水生环境及迁徙物种所面临的威胁，通过保护河岸与湿地植被免受退化及碎片化影响加以应对。与社区团体合作可增强项目成效，因其在项目期限之外仍将担任守护者角色。项目保护原生植被并建立缓冲带，提升生态韧性，为原生植被抵御气候变化影响提供最佳生存机会。此外，项目可增加自然区域的生物多样性，增强连通性，并从整体上改善重要原生植被片区的生物多样性。对这些区域的保护对于频繁造访此地的迁徙物种而言至关重要。
