Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Program

The EPA's ambient air quality monitoring program is carried out by
State and local agencies and consists of three major categories of monitoring
stations, State and Local Air Monitoring Stations (SLAMS), National Air
Monitoring Stations (NAMS), and Special Purpose Monitoring Stations (SPMS),
that measure the criteria pollutants. Additionally, a fourth category of a
monitoring station, the Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Stations (PAMS),
which measures ozone precursors (approximately 60 volatile hydrocarbons and
carbonyl) has been required by the 1990 Amendments to the Clean Air Act.

美国环境保护署（Environmental Protection Agency, EPA）的环境空气质量监测项目由各州及地方机构实施，共包含三类核心监测站点：州和地方空气监测站（State and Local Air Monitoring Stations, SLAMS）、国家空气监测站（National Air Monitoring Stations, NAMS）以及特殊用途监测站（Special Purpose Monitoring Stations, SPMS），上述站点均用于监测环境空气质量标准污染物。此外，根据《清洁空气法》1990年修正案的要求，需增设第四类监测站点——光化学评估监测站（Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Stations, PAMS），该站点负责监测臭氧前体物（约60种挥发性烃类与羰基化合物）。
