Global Rural-Urban Mapping Project, version 1 (GRUMPv1)

The Global Rural-Urban Mapping Project, version 1 (GRUMPv1) builds on the Gridded Population of the World, version 3 (GPWv3) to construct a common geo-referenced framework of urban and rural areas by combining census data with satellite data. GRUMPv1 actually comprises three data products (1) estimates of human population higher resolution gridded population data product at 30 arc-seconds, or ~1km at the equator, for 1990, 1995, and 2000. (2) an urban extents data set which delineates urban areas based on NOAA’s night-time lights data set and buffered settlement centroids (where night lights are not sufficiently bright); and (3) a points data set of all urban areas with populations of greater than 1,000 persons, which may be downloaded in Excel, CSV, and shapefile formats. There is an extensive map collection depicting the data sets at country, continental, and global levels. Additional global grids are created from the 30 arc-second grid at 1/4, 1/2, and 1 degree resolutions.

全球城乡制图计划第一版（Global Rural-Urban Mapping Project, version 1，简称GRUMPv1）以世界栅格人口第三版（Gridded Population of the World, version 3，简称GPWv3）为基础，通过整合普查数据与卫星数据，构建了一套通用的城乡地理参考框架。GRUMPv1实际包含三类数据产品：(1) 高分辨率栅格人口数据集：针对1990、1995及2000年，分辨率为30角秒（赤道处约1公里）的人口估算数据；(2) 城市范围数据集：基于美国国家海洋和大气管理局（National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration，简称NOAA）的夜间灯光数据集，以及（当夜间灯光亮度不足时）经缓冲区处理的居民点中心点来划定城市区域；(3) 人口规模超1000人的所有城市区域点数据集，可通过Excel、CSV及Shapefile格式下载。该数据集配套了覆盖国家、大洲及全球尺度的丰富地图集。此外，还基于30角秒栅格生成了1/4、1/2及1度分辨率的额外全球栅格数据。
