During routine microbiological screening of an individual admitted for the aortic valve replacement surgery, unusual light blue colonies were appeared on the Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci (VRE) agar (Oxoid, CM0984) from the rectal swab sample. Antibiotic susceptibility testing performed using the VITEK 2 compact system with AST N117 cards (bioMe´rieux) revealed the strain NV2016 was resistant to Ampicillin, Ampicillin+Sulbactam, Cefuroxim, Piperacillin/Tazobactam, Piperacillin, Ceftazidim, Cefepim, Imipenem, Meropenem, Nitrofurantoin, Aztreonam while sensitive only to Trimethoprime/ Sulfamethoxazole and moxifloxacin. MALDI-TOF analysis identified NV2016 to be Elizabethkingia meningoseptica. As this is the first time that E. meningoseptica is observed from an asymptomatic individual we sequenced NV2016 for its whole genome and explored for its characteristics.

对一名接受主动脉瓣置换手术入院的患者开展常规微生物筛查时，在其直肠拭子样本接种的万古霉素耐药肠球菌（Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci, VRE）琼脂培养基（Oxoid，货号CM0984）上观察到异常浅蓝色菌落。采用搭载AST N117型药敏检测卡的VITEK 2 compact系统（生物梅里埃，bioMe´rieux）进行药敏试验，结果显示菌株NV2016对氨苄西林、氨苄西林-舒巴坦、头孢呋辛、哌拉西林-他唑巴坦、哌拉西林、头孢他啶、头孢吡肟、亚胺培南、美罗培南、呋喃妥因、氨曲南均耐药，仅对甲氧苄啶-磺胺甲恶唑及莫西沙星敏感。经基质辅助激光解吸电离飞行时间质谱（MALDI-TOF）分析，鉴定菌株NV2016为脑膜败血伊丽莎白菌（Elizabethkingia meningoseptica）。鉴于这是首次从无症状个体中检出脑膜败血伊丽莎白菌，本研究对菌株NV2016进行全基因组测序，并对其生物学特性展开探究。
