The Middle East boasts some 82 trillion standard cubic meters in proved natural gas reserves, making it the region with the largest quantities of known reserves. By comparison, Russia alone housed nearly 44 trillion cubic meters worth of the fossil fuel, making it the country with the largest natural reserves.
