Data collected on the breeding status of the Grasshopper Sparrow by the second Iowa Birding Bird Atlas (BBAII), recorded 791 (3x3 mi<sup>2</sup>) locations over Iowa in 2008–2012<i>. </i>Original data sourced from https://iowabba2.org.This data has been joined to groundcover measurements from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). For each location, USGS data allow computation of an average percentage of area attributable to grass, trees, and covers other than crops, as well as the number of cover types within an area. These values have been calculated for both a circle that inscribes the 3x3 mi<sup>2</sup> locations, as well as one that encompasses the locations. Each value is calculated based on satellite data from 2008 and 2019, separatetely.
