We explore the genes and pathways related to metal ions involved in extracellular matrix, cell adhension and migration, expression of cytokine, antibacterial, inflammation, and cell signaling. To investigate the potential osteogenic mechanism of PPH, we performed an mRNA expression profiling microarray. Male Sprague Dawley rats (10 weeks old, 320-350 g weight) were used to test the engineered hydrogels in vivo. For gene expression profiling microarray analysis, tibias were harvested at week 2.
