The study was focused on the analysis of performance monitoring and evaluation in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Department of Social Development. The study adopted the qualitative research design. Using information from interviews, documents from various departmental units, and observation, a phenomenological study design was employed to thoroughly conduct a systems analysis on performance monitoring and evaluation in provincial departments, particularly the Department of Social Development.Non-probability sampling was adopted in this study with a particular focus on purposive sampling. The population identified for the study was experts and professionals from three service offices at KZN DSD (Ubombo, Mbazwana, and Mtubatuba) and officials from the Monitoring and Evaluation section at KZN DSD Headquarters. The population included service office managers, social work supervisors, social workers, community development practitioners, and service monitors from KZN DSD headquarters. The study sample was selected from the above groups of experts and professionals. This study employed the thematic method of data analysis.<br>
