Watersheds 1 and 17 white pine survey in 2001

This study involves the resampling of 40 0.2 acre plots throughout the two 35 year old white pine stands to determine the changes in stand structure over time (other survey dates include 1967, 1969, 1972, 1984, and 1989). Live and dead stems of each tree in a plot were measured (diameter at breast height, DBH). In addition, due to the recent infestations in both watersheds by the southern pine bark beetle, current status of trees was also noted.

本研究对两片35年生白皮松林分内的40块0.2英亩样地开展重抽样调查，旨在探明林分结构随时间的变化规律（其余调查年份涵盖1967年、1969年、1972年、1984年及1989年）。调查过程中，对每块样地内所有林木的活立木与枯立木茎干进行了胸径（diameter at breast height，DBH）测量。此外，鉴于近期两个流域均遭受南方松树皮甲虫的侵染，本次调查同时记录了林木的当前健康状况。
