The Concept of Border in Yuri Lotman's Semiotics

ABSTRACT This article4 aims to introduce the concept of semiotic border in the oeuvre of the Russian semiotician Yuri Lotman (1922-1993) as well as the process of assimilation of foreign texts that occurs precisely in the border area. Based on this theoretical approach, we analyze cultural interrelations, such as the presence of the French language in Leo Tolstoy's novel War and Peace and the impact of jeans in Soviet culture.

摘要 本文旨在介绍俄罗斯符号学家尤里·洛特曼（Yuri Lotman，1922-1993）著述全集中的符号边界（semiotic border）概念，以及恰恰发生在该边界区域内的外来文本同化过程。基于这一理论视角，本文将分析两类文化互动关系：列夫·托尔斯泰（Leo Tolstoy）长篇小说《战争与和平（War and Peace）》中的法语元素运用，以及牛仔裤对苏联文化的影响。
