Literature review on the essential areas of the of “Gender Equality” concept from a socio-educational perspective.

Gender equality, one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, is essential for achieving sustainable development and building fair and equitable societies. Despite the progress made in recent decades, deep inequalities persist, limiting the full exercise of rights and opportunities for all people, regardless of gender. Gender discrimination is a complex phenomenon that manifests in various ways within social, cultural, and economic contexts. This multidimensional nature highlights that its causes and effects result from the interaction of numerous interconnected factors.This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review on various aspects related to the concept of gender equality, with the goal of establishing categories and indicators for future research and providing a solid evidence base to guide policy formulation and coeducational actions. Using the PRISMA methodology, an initial selection of 511 documents was made, which was reduced to 303 after removing duplicates from relevant databases. The search included books from various publishers and scientific journal articles in major databases, using keyword combinations in both Spanish and English related to gender equality and inequality. The analysis results indicate that the main areas studied in gender equality encompass the labor field, shared domestic responsibilities, health, culture, economy, gender-based violence, and the recognition of women's contributions in history and science.
