Participant's perception of Ford Resource's contribution to mitigate poverty

The study aimed to explore how the Ford Resource and Engagement Centre (FREC) programme assists in mitigating poverty from the perspective of its participants. The research used a qualitative approach, including explorative and descriptive methods, and an instrumental case study design. Purposive sampling was used to select ten participants from the FREC programme. All the participants run small bussinesses around Mamelodi and Nellmapius area. Data was collected through one-on-one semi-structured interviews and analysed through thematic analysis according to Braun & Clarke (2022). Six themes were identified and furthur broken into sub-themes The findings of the research indicate that the FREC programme plays a significant role in mitigating poverty, and this is outlined with support of the participant's quotations and literature. The study further outlines recommendations for future studies.

本研究旨在从参与者视角探究福特资源与参与中心（FREC）项目如何助力缓解贫困。研究采用质性研究方法，涵盖探索性与描述性手段，并运用工具性案例研究设计。通过目的性抽样从FREC项目中选取10名参与者，所有参与者均在马梅洛迪（Mamelodi）与内尔马皮乌斯（Nellmapius）地区经营小型企业。数据通过一对一半结构化访谈收集，并依据Braun & Clarke（2022）的方法进行主题分析。研究识别出6个主题，并进一步细分为子主题；研究结果表明，FREC项目在缓解贫困方面发挥着重要作用，这一结论得到参与者引述与相关文献的支持。本研究还为未来研究提出了建议。
