Images from Historic Buildings Recording Work at Bank Top Station, Darlington, June to November 2022

This collection comprises images from a Descriptive Buildings Record (Level 2) at New car park, Bank Top Station, Darlington. This work was undertaken by Archaeological Services Durham University June to November 2022. The record included examination and photographic recording of a pub, a working men's club and a row of terraced houses, together with some retaining and other walls, as well as preparation of sketch plans of the buildings. The group of buildings scheduled for demolition included a 19th-century pub, the Grey Horse Hotel, which was formerly two terraced houses; the East End Working Men's Club, built after 1913 and much enlarged in the second half of the 20th century; and a row of four terraced house, nos, 10-16 Neasham Road. All of the houses and the pub had been very substantially altered inside and out, and very few original features remained.
