This research is based on the premise that by adjusting and evaluating the CROPGRO-PFM model and considering current and future climate scenarios, it is possible to predict the growth and yield of Brachiaria brizantha in Ethiopia's subhumid environments. Data collected from two agricultural research centers over three years were utilized to calibrate the DSSAT CROPGRO-Perennial Forage model for Brachiaria cv. brizantha. The study examined the potential impacts of current and forthcoming climate conditions on biomass accumulation, specifically focusing on top or shoot, herbage, leaf, and stem biomass. It involved the analysis of climate data, experimental data on biomass growth, and parameters influencing biomass partitioning, dormancy, and senescence. This assessment provides valuable insights for agricultural advisors, policymakers, researchers, and modelers involved in forage crop management and planning. Moreover, the research aims to address knowledge gaps regarding how Brachiaria grass responds to various environmental conditions, particularly climate change, to enhance livestock feed security and promote sustainable agricultural practices in Ethiopia.
