Social media engagement during soccer matches worldwide in 2022, by country

A February 2022 survey revealed that many sports enthusiasts worldwide checked their social media whilst watching soccer matches. However this has been shown to vary from country to country, with 90 percent of soccer fans in China checking their social media whilst watching a match, compared to only 43 percent of fans in Japan.
