The Nigerian Clinical Brain MRI Dataset was developed by institutions including the University of Port Harcourt. It contains structural MRI data from Nigerian healthy controls, patients with Alzheimer's disease, and patients with Parkinson's disease. The dataset has a total size of approximately 0.34212 GB, and includes T1-weighted (T1w), T2-weighted (T2w), and FLAIR imaging sequences. It aims to facilitate global neuroscience research by providing the first MRI dataset from the African continent. During its development, data was collected from three diagnostic centers in Nigeria. Although the MRI scanners used were of relatively low field strength, the dataset adheres to best clinical practices. This dataset is particularly suitable for training local medical professionals and developing medical imaging and artificial intelligence algorithms that are robust to low-quality data and data heterogeneity.
