This study investigates the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on the lower respiratory tract microbiome of critically ill patients. Using next-generation sequencing (NGS) on bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, we analyzed and compared the microbial communities (bacteria, fungi, and viruses) from 175 ICU patients before, during, and after the Shanghai COVID-19 epidemic.
