Theft in Denmark, 1977

The purpose of the project is to examine how large a proportion of the population will become victims of theft in the course of one year. The results of the survey are then compared with the results of similar, earlier, studies carried out by Preben Wolf in 1972: Project NOXA, II: Victims of Theft (DDA-0043), and by Flemming Balvig in 1976: Theft in Denmark, 1976 (DDA-0168). In addition, the survey examines whether the thefts were reported to the police and whether claims were made to the victim's insurance company, the extent and character of the damage done, the stolen objects, and, finally, precautionary measures taken by the respondent in order to avoid becoming a victim of crime or to minimize losses.
