Research progresses on applications of mordenite in various fields

Zeolite has been applied in fields of medicine, agronomy, environmental science, etc., ascribing to its unique physical and chemical properties. Especially, it has been applied at the industrial level in fields of desiccants and adsorbents. Among many types of zeolites, mordenite (MOR) has attracted extensive attention in fields of catalysis, separation and purification reactions due to its relatively high silicon-aluminum ratio, unique pore size and pore structure, and good thermal and chemical stabilities. Based on characteristics of the skeleton structure and physical and chemical properties of MOR, in this paper, we have summarized research progresses of the MOR applied in fields of catalysis, adsorption, fuel cells and many others, introduced its reaction mechanism and effects of its internal pore structure and active site regulation on its performance, discussed the research bottlenecks of its applications in catalytic lifetime, water competitive adsorption, etc., and made a summary and prospects for its future research works.
