Understanding the spatial pattern of heavy metals at a fine scale is critical for optimal control of environmental capacity and targeted treatment of pollutants. We summarize the up-to-date dataset on the occurrence of common heavy metals in soils of the Yangtze River Basin, a large basin in China of vital economic and ecological importance, by searching peer-reviewed literatures published between 2000 and 2020. The dataset ensures the accuracy of literature screening through quality control procedures, mainly extracting detailed geographic location and concentration of heavy metal. The dataset includes a total of 7867 records (Zn: 1045, Cu: 1140, Pb: 1261, Cr: 980, Cd: 1242, Ni: 649, As: 821, Hg: 729) of heavy metal occurrence in soils of the Yangtze River Basin, distributed at four scale levels of province, prefecture, county, township or finer. The up-to-date dataset provides the latest status of heavy metal occurrence in soils of the Yangtze River Basin, which can be used as a further ecological and health risk assessment, and as a data basis for the repair and prevention of soil heavy metal pollution in the Yangtze River Basin.  and ecological importance, by searching peer-reviewed literatures published between 2000 and 2020. 精准掌握重金属(heavy metals)的空间分布格局,对于优化环境容量管控、实施污染物靶向治理至关重要。本研究通过检索2000至2020年发表的同行评议文献,梳理了兼具重要经济与生态价值的中国大型流域——长江流域(Yangtze River Basin)土壤中常见重金属的赋存现状最新数据集。本数据集通过质量控制流程保障文献筛选的准确性,主要提取重金属的详细地理位置与浓度信息。数据集共包含7867条长江流域土壤重金属赋存记录,其中锌(Zn)1045条、铜(Cu)1140条、铅(Pb)1261条、铬(Cr)980条、镉(Cd)1242条、镍(Ni)649条、砷(As)821条、汞(Hg)729条,分布尺度涵盖省级、地级市、县级、乡级及更精细的层级。本最新数据集完整呈现了长江流域土壤重金属赋存的最新状况,可用于后续生态与健康风险评估,同时可为长江流域土壤重金属污染的修复与防治提供数据基础。
