Aspirations in Science, 2009-2013

 
<p>The Aspirations in Science (ASPIRES) project was a five-year study (2009-2013) funded as part of the ESRC’s Targeted Initiative on Science and Mathematics Education (TISME). ASPIRES explored science aspirations and engagement among 10-14-year-olds in England. It comprised a quantitative online survey of the cohort and repeat (longitudinal) interviews with a selected sub-sample of students and their parents. Please note that this dataset comprises the quantitative (survey) data only, not the qualitative (interview) data.</p><p>Survey data were collected at three time points: Phase 1 was conducted at the end of primary school (age 10/11, Year 6), phase 2 in the second year of secondary school (age 12/13, Year 8) and phase 3 was administered when students were in Year 9 (age 13/14). </p><p>Two further ASPIRES studies were conducted between 2013 and 2023: ASPIRES 2 and ASPIRES 3 are available as separate studies (see SNs 9223 and 9224).</p>

科学志向（Aspirations in Science，简称ASPIRES）研究项目是一项为期五年（2009-2013年）的研究，由经济和社会研究理事会（Economic and Social Research Council，简称ESRC）旗下的科学与数学教育专项计划（Targeted Initiative on Science and Mathematics Education，简称TISME）资助。ASPIRES聚焦英格兰10至14岁青少年的科学志向与参与情况，研究内容包含针对该研究队列的定量在线调查，以及对选定的学生子样本及其家长开展的重复纵向访谈。请注意，本数据集仅包含定量（调查）数据，不包含定性（访谈）数据。
调查数据共设置三个采集节点：第一阶段于小学毕业阶段开展（年龄10/11岁，六年级），第二阶段于中学二年级开展（年龄12/13岁，八年级），第三阶段则在学生就读九年级时实施（年龄13/14岁）。
2013年至2023年间还开展了两项后续ASPIRES研究：ASPIRES 2与ASPIRES 3已作为独立研究项目发布（参见编号SN 9223与SN 9224）。
