Zoological Museum Amsterdam, University of Amsterdam (NL) – Hymenoptera_Bombidae_Types

The larger part of the bumblebee collection of the Zoological Museum of the University of Amsterdam (ZMA) originates from the private collection of Prof. Oskar Vogt, acquired in 1960. The majority of the material originates from the western Palaearctic, including many specimens originating from Turkey. The collection also contains a wealth of material from southern Siberia and China. In addition, the collection comprises material of a number of Central American species, including types. In all, ZMA houses about 300.000 bumblebee specimens and among these approximately 11.750 type specimens representing about 300 different species group taxa (2.800 Bombus species group taxa are known to occur world-wide).
