Trench Art

Letter opener, (knife made from bullets and scrap metal). Made by my uncle, Sid Roberts, who was in the East Surrey's. Gassed twice and returned to another regiment, probably the Engineers. Think he was a sergeant at the end of the war. Being gassed saved his life as rest of his comrades were all killed! Possibly an Old Contemptible, as a lot of them were at his funeral.

本藏品为拆信刀（由子弹与废金属打造而成）。其制作者为我的叔父西德·罗伯茨（Sid Roberts），他曾服役于东萨里团（East Surrey's）。他曾两次遭遇毒气袭击，之后转隶至另一支部队，大概率为工程兵部队。据推测，他在战争末期的军衔为中士。他因中毒气得以幸存，其余战友悉数阵亡！他或许曾是一名老蔑视者（Old Contemptible），其葬礼上有大量该群体成员出席。
