Lab 2- Woodlot data set 3

This experiment was conducted in the woodlot at York University on September 23rd. We placed transect measuring tape from the edge of woodlot to center of woodlot, and walked a straight line. Every adult tree (thicker than hand held vertically at breast height) encountered, we recorded the distance from this tree to the next and recorded the diameter at breast height in inches for every tree using transect measuring tape. Furthermore the condition of the trees were observed as well, rating them from 0-2 (0=Dead, 1=Living, 2= Huge green canopy), this was done by forming a square with the fingers and holding it up to survey the canopy of the tree. This procedure was repeated 9 times to get a total of 10 parings.

本实验于9月23日在约克大学（York University）的林地中开展。我们沿从林地边缘至林地中心的方向布设样带卷尺，并沿该直线行进。每遇到胸高位置胸径大于垂直握持手掌尺寸的成年乔木，我们便记录该树与下一株待测乔木的间距，并通过样带卷尺测量每株乔木的胸径（diameter at breast height），单位为英寸（inches）。此外，我们还对树木的生长健康状况进行观测并分级，分级标准为0至2分（0=枯立木，1=活立木，2=冠层茂密翠绿的健壮个体）；评分操作采用手指围成正方形框，将其举至眼前以观测树木冠层的方式完成。该调查流程共重复开展9次，最终累计获得10组样本配对数据。
