The draft genome of the Fischerella sp. CENA71 presents a GC content of around 40 percent and length of 7.46 Mb, distributed across 95 scaffolds. Phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses have shown that CENA71 belongs to a clade of rare Fischerella strains, more closely related to genera such as Hapalosiphon, Mastigocladus, and Westiellopsis than to the core Fischerella strains. Moreover, the secondary structure of the 16S and 23S ITS of CENA71 has shown significant differences when compared to other Fischerella strains. Bioinformatics analysis linking known peptidic metabolites to the CENA71 biosynthetic genes indicated the presence of spumigins. CRISPR-Cas analysis detected 15 CRISPR arrays and Cas enzymes characteristic of Type I and III systems.
