In this work, we examined the potential of LiMn2O4 (LMO) spinel as a cathode for extreme fast charging lithium-ion batteries. Through an elaborative ‘entropy increase’ strategy, we were able to reduce the charging time of the entropy-increased LMO cathodes to just 4 minutes, which is comparable to the time it takes to refuel.
