Thermal efficiency potential dataset in the Western Atlantic coast (OTEC-BR)

This dataset, which is made available to researchers and engineers involved in renewable energy and environmental sciences, is the result of the thermal efficiency computation in a large part of the South American region with emphasis on the Brazilian coasts. It was created from monthly data from the well-known global database, SODA (Simple Ocean Data Assimilation, V3.15.2), choosing 40 years sample from 1983 to 2022. It presents an effective working area between latitudes 35.25°S and 10°N, longitudes 53.25°W and 24.75°W, a spatial resolution of 0.5x0.5° and a single level, as a result of the calculation between the surface levels and the 1000 m depth of the initial data.The data structure provides the monthly mean results of the parameter in question (in netcdf format), as well as 18 series corresponding to the points considered for the whole data sample (in txt format) useful to obtain any local statistics.

本数据集面向可再生能源与环境科学领域的研究人员与工程师开放共享，其核心为南美大部分区域（重点聚焦巴西沿岸）的热效率计算成果。数据集源自知名全球数据库SODA（Simple Ocean Data Assimilation, V3.15.2）的月度观测数据，选取了1983年至2022年共计40年的样本。该数据集的有效研究区域纬度范围为南纬35.25°至北纬10°，经度范围为西经53.25°至西经24.75°，空间分辨率为0.5×0.5°，仅包含单一层级数据——该层级由初始数据的表层与1000米深度层的计算结果整合得到。数据结构方面，数据集以NetCDF（网络通用数据格式）提供目标参数的月度平均结果，同时附带18组对应全数据样本选取点位的TXT格式序列文件，可用于开展任意局域统计分析。
