Working Towards Improving the Application of Radiocarbon Dating in the Investigation of Unidentified Human Remains: Studies in an Australian Context

The identification of human remains is a primary role of medico-legal practitioners, however, unfortunately, in the case of skeletonised remains, delays in identification are common. This thesis provides geographically and statistically significant data regarding the use of radiocarbon dating as a tool in the examination of these remains. Radiocarbon dating can assist in the determination of forensic relevance, and the estimation of a year of death, both of which can assist in identification.
