README Repository Description This repository contains the datasets supporting the manuscript: Silvopastoral systems enhance sustainability in the Yucatán Peninsula by improving ecosystem health and animal welfare: a comprehensive approach The datasets include measurements of animal health, methane emissions, environmental conditions, soil properties, biodiversity, and vertebrate species reported as susceptible to West Nile virus (WNV). Data were collected from commercial cattle farms managed under monoculture and silvopasture production systems in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. Repository Contents File Description Animal_Health_Indicators_Dataset.xlsx Farm-level prevalence of clinical health indicators, including claudication, coughs, nasal discharges, and ocular discharges. Bat_Abundance_Matrix.xlsx Community matrix of bat species. Rows represent species and columns represent farms. Cell values correspond to the total abundance of each species recorded at each farm. Biodiversity_Dataset.xlsx Farm-level biodiversity indicators, including total abundance and species richness of birds, bats, and rodents. Bird_Abundance_Matrix.xlsx Community matrix of bird species. Rows represent species and columns represent farms. Cell values correspond to the total abundance of each species recorded at each farm. Rodent_Abundance_Matrix.xlsx Community matrix of rodent species. Rows represent species and columns represent farms. Cell values correspond to the total abundance of each species recorded at each farm. Soil_Properties_Dataset.xlsx Soil chemical and microbiological properties measured at each farm. Temperature_Humidity_Dataset.xlsx Ambient temperature, relative humidity, and Temperature–Humidity Index (THI) recorded during animal evaluations. WNV_Susceptible_Species_Dataset.xlsx Farm-level abundance and species richness of avian, bat, and rodent species reported as susceptible to West Nile virus (WNV). Community Matrices The files Bird_Abundance_Matrix.xlsx, Bat_Abundance_Matrix.xlsx, and Rodent_Abundance_Matrix.xlsx are community matrices organized as follows: Rows correspond to species (scientific names). Columns correspond to farms (FarmID). Cell values indicate the total number of individuals recorded for each species at each farm. A value of 0 indicates that the species was not detected at the corresponding farm. Variable Definitions Each dataset contains standardized variable names. Variable definitions, descriptions, and measurement units are provided within the corresponding dataset.
