Annual credit card and debit cards issued in Sweden 2000-2023

Credit card figures in Sweden reached over six million cards in 2023, a slight decrease compared to previous years. However, debit cards were found to be more prevalent in the country, as there were around 11 million of these cards in that year. The numbers provided are estimates, based on the figures central banks have to supply. Owning a payment card does not immediately indicate it gets used, as there are significant differences within Europe when it comes to the use of certain payment methods.
