Overview This Feature Service provides comprehensive geospatial data related to facilities included in the Emission Inventory System (EIS), maintained by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It supports EPA's mission to protect human health and the environment by uniquely identifying and locating facilities subject to air pollution regulatory programs across the United States and its territories. The Facility Registry Service (FRS) provides quality facility data to support EPA's mission of protecting human health and the environment by identifying and geospatially locating facilities, sites, or places subject to environmental regulations of environmental interest. Facility data is improved with geospatial processing of incoming data and data curation tools to provide an integrated, dataset to partners and the public through a variety of methods and products. Important Note: Facility inventory data are kept separate from the emissions data and have stable identifiers to improve continuity from year to year and to help identify duplicate or missing facilities. Feature Layer FRS Interests EIS : This layer contains detailed facility identification and location information about air pollution emitters tracked by the Emission Inventory System. It includes facility site names, addresses, and geographic coordinates, alongside regulatory information such as environmental interest types, program system IDs, and status indicators. The data integrates federal, state, and local perspectives providing valuable information on active and historical regulatory statuses and affiliations. Additional metadata like location accuracy, collection methods, hydrologic unit codes, and EPA regional codes enrich the dataset for environmental analysis. EIS maintains air point pollution emitters inventory data in a separate database that includes information about the facility sites such as location, emission units, emission processes, release points, control approaches, and regulations. Geographic Coverage The dataset encompasses facility sites throughout the United States, including territories, as indicated by the range of county and state codes, city names, and federal land indicators. This extensive coverage supports nationwide environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance efforts.
