"The Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR Parts 191, 195) requires operators gas distribution, gas gathering, gas transmission, hazardous liquid, LNG, and UNGS to submit annual reports to PHMSA. Annual reports include information such as total pipeline mileage, facilities, commodities transported, miles by material, and installation dates. These annual reports are widely used by safety researchers, government agencies, industry professionals, and by PHMSA personnel for inspection planning. Failure to report may result in enforcement action including civil penalties under 49 U.S.C. § 60122 and 49 CFR § 190.223.Data in the ZIP file is updated monthly and will change in response to supplemental reports from the operators."
