Dataset of rulings of the Spanish Constitutional Court on national and regional legislation (1981–2023)

This dataset contains 1,888 rulings of the Spanish Constitutional Court (SCC) between 1981 and 2023 involving national and regional legislation. Each row corresponds to a ruling, which is nested within a decision. Variables capture the type and origin of legislation challenged, the actor initiating the case, the ideological composition of the Court, and the political context at the time. This paper is part of the project The Politization of Federal Arbiters. Modelling Regional Constitutional Politics in Spain, funded by the Institute for Self-Government Studies (IEA) (Grant Agreement No. PRE150/22/000009).
