Where's your language at?

This dataset is part of the larger research project named FLO, an investigation into transcultural communicative strategies characterizing informal communication in the European communities of digital nomads. The data have been collected in the framework of a Ph.D. research at the Department of Interpreting and Translation at the University of Bologna, by Novella Tedesco, supervised by prof. Silvia Bernardini and prof. Cristiana Cervini (https://www.thenomadlinguist.eu/flo/). The link to participate in the online survey has been made available on a dedicated webpage inside the blog created for the research (https://www.thenomadlinguist.eu/wheresyourlanguageat/). The dataset 'Where's your language at?' contains data collected through an online questionnaire which stayed open from February, 7th to June, 5th 2024 on LimeSurvey, installed on the server of the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Bologna (limesurvey.org). The questionnaire 'Where's your language at?' has the objective of investigating linguistic background, behaviours and attitudes of digital nomads. The data found in the present dataset relates to the extended pilot which was conducted to test the questionnaire (Tedesco 2024). Questions, categories and measures in the latest version of questionnaire have been tune-fined according to the results of the Extended Pilot Study. The data are contained in the .csv file named 'DATASET_Wheresyourlanguageat_results.csv'. In this file, the breaking character is ';' and the text delimiter is "". Empty responses have been delated, so that out of 111 responses collected, 76 are not empty hence displayed in the dataset. The same data are also contained in the .xlsx file named 'Wheresyourlanguageat_dataset.xlsx', but in this file responses that are considered as non-representative of the population understudy are highlighted in yellow. The classification was made based on the answers to questions shown in column P, Q, and R. The data have been fully anonymized through the elimination of names and emails. Together with the dataset, the full questionnaire is provided in .pdf form, easier to consult, and in .lss form, for further implementations on LimeSurvey. The file .lss is an XML, which can be also read with a general text editor software. A folder named 'Research Ethics' contains the informed consent and privacy forms which were used in the study, The approval from the Bioethical Committee of the University of Bologna and the policy on incidental results can be viewed upon request to the Researcher.
