Randomness is the basis of security, privacy, trust and fairness. Cryptographic methods become vulnerable if the underlying randomness is weak or could be biased by the users of the system. Numerous applications rely on “Publicly verifiable randomness” (PVR), where randomness is extracted from a publicly accessible process or object, the output of which can be verified by third parties. With this proposal we wish to determine which pulsars would be most suitable if we wish to produce PVR through observations of pulsars.
随机性是安全、隐私、信任与公平的核心基础。若底层随机性强度不足或可被系统用户操纵偏移,则密码学方法将变得极易受攻击。诸多应用均依赖于"可公开验证随机性(Publicly verifiable randomness, PVR)":此类随机性从可公开访问的流程或对象中提取,且其输出可由第三方完成验证。本研究提案旨在明确:若通过脉冲星观测生成可公开验证随机性,那么哪些脉冲星为最优适配选择。
