Experiments were performed with South Louisiana crude oil contaminated salt water, limestone, and quartz. Fine (greater than 0.3 mm and less than 0.075 mm) particle sized quartz was tested, and both fine and medium (greater than 2.0 mm and less than 3.0 mm) particle size limestone were tested in 4 trials each. This dataset reports the amount of oil in different phases after particles were added to oil contaminated salt water. This dataset supports the paper Daria Boglaienko and Berrin Tansel (2015) Instantaneous stabilization of floating oils by surface application of natural granular materials (beach sand and limestone), Marine Pollution Bulletin, 91:1, 107-112, doi: 10.1016/j.marpolbul.2014.12.020.
本实验采用受南路易斯安那原油污染的盐水、石灰岩与石英作为实验介质开展相关测试。测试了粒径处于(大于0.3 mm且小于0.075 mm)区间的细粒石英;同时分别针对细粒与中粒(粒径处于大于2.0 mm且小于3.0 mm区间)的石灰岩开展了4组重复实验。本数据集记录了将上述颗粒材料添加至受油污染的盐水后,不同相态中的石油含量。本数据集支撑的学术论文为Daria Boglaienko与Berrin Tansel于2015年发表在《海洋污染公报》(Marine Pollution Bulletin)第91卷第1期的《天然颗粒材料(海滩砂与石灰岩)表面投加实现浮油瞬时稳定》,页码范围为107-112,DOI:10.1016/j.marpolbul.2014.12.020。
