Hard X-ray spectra of nearby LIRGs from GOALS

We propose XMMNewton EPIC observations of six luminous infrared galaxies,selected from the GOALS sample. The targets are selected based on the 27 keVflux measured with snapshot Chandra observations, aiming to study their hardXray spectra and Fe line properties with XMMNewton. This proposed follow upobservations are essential to determine the AGN fraction in the nearby LIRGpopulation by minimizing the bias against heavily obscured AGN which generallyhave faint hard Xray emission and a large throughput of XMMNewton is requiredto examine its nature. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
