ANALYSIS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR THE OPTIMIZATION OF MINING OPERATIONS AT PT X, PAPUA INDONESIA

The implementation of Management Information Systems (MIS) plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making processes within the mining industry. This study aims to analyze the implementation of MIS for optimizing mining operations at PT X in Papua, Indonesia. The research investigates how MIS contributes to improved productivity, data integration, and safety management in underground mining environments. Using a mixed-method approach, data were collected through surveys, interviews, and document analysis involving key stakeholders, including system users and management personnel. The findings reveal that MIS implementation has significantly improved data accuracy, real-time monitoring, and coordination among departments, leading to better resource utilization and operational planning. However, challenges remain in system integration, user training, and infrastructure limitations due to the remote mining location. The study concludes that a strategic approach to MIS development—emphasizing user competency, system reliability, and continuous evaluation—is essential for sustaining operational optimization. These insights provide valuable implications for mining companies seeking to leverage information systems as a driver of efficiency, safety, and sustainability in complex industrial settings.
