交通部依「災害防救法」第三條規定為海難之中央災害防救業務主管機關，負責指揮、督導、協調各級海難災害防救相關行政機關及公共事業執行海難災害防救工作。
Pursuant to Article 3 of the Disaster Prevention and Protection Act, the Ministry of Transportation serves as the central competent authority for maritime disaster prevention and rescue operations. It is responsible for commanding, supervising, and coordinating administrative agencies and public enterprises at all levels involved in maritime disaster prevention and rescue to carry out such work.
