RABOLA project: Study on the effects on the cow microbiomes of reducing the use of antibiotics and replacing them with nutraceuticals (rumen samples). Rumen microbiome of dairy cows (RABOLA project)

This project investigated options to reduce the use of antibiotics in dairy cow farms by adopting treatment strategies like selective dry-cow therapy (SDCT) and by replacing antibiotics with alternative therapeutic options, e.g. internal teat sealants, nutraceuticals, plant-based compounds. The effect of these approaches on the health of dairy cows and on their microbiomes (gut, milk) were evaluated.
