Integrating DEA and GIS for Multidimensional Efficiency Assessment: A Forest Road Case Application

This dataset was produced within the scope of the TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye) 1002 project code 122O785. These data were developed for use in studies aimed at estimating the efficiency scores of forest roads from ecological, economic, social, and technical perspectives using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The dataset includes a comprehensive set of terrain and road-related variables derived from forest road environments. The final list of variables is as follows: Standardized aspect index (aspect score), Terrain slope, Road width, Excavation height, Deforested area, Number of landslide occurrences, Distance to riverbeds, Potential hydraulic structures, Connected forest area, Construction width, Curvature factor, Route tortuosity, Horizontal curves, Road surface roughness, Average road spacing distance, Productive area to road length ratio, Roads in production forests, Timber production volume, Road slope, Road length, Roads in socially functional forests, Accessibility to agricultural lands, Service duration (days per year), Vegetated (rehabilitated) cut slopes, Population of adjacent villages, Platform width, Passing bays and stopping points, Road shoulder width, Road ditch width. The indicators used to derive these variables have been defined and documented (Appendix 3). The study also includes the ArcGIS model diagrams used to generate these variables (Appendix 2). For demonstration purposes, forest road data belonging to the Maçka Forest Enterprise Directorate were prepared in DBF format and made available for GIS operations.
