CSIRO Micronekton Database: 1992 to 2018

Micronekton are small (~2-20 cm) free-swimming pelagic organisms. Ecologically, they are the mediators between primary production to higher trophic orders, by providing the trophic link between the mesozooplankton and apex predators. Here we describe CSIRO’s micronekton data holdings collected from 1992 to 2018 from 13 surveys within six areas around southeastern Australia and the Southern and Indian Oceans. Surveys include depth stratified sampling, integrated sampling and some diurnal and seasonal replication. Comparisons between surveys were made by standardising data using a consistent method for volume filtered estimates.

小型中层游泳生物（Micronekton）是体长约2至20厘米的自由游动大洋性生物。从生态学功能来看，它们充当初级生产与更高营养级之间的关键介导者，为中型浮游动物（mesozooplankton）与顶级捕食者（apex predators）搭建了不可或缺的营养联系纽带。本研究详述了澳大利亚联邦科学与工业研究组织（CSIRO）所馆藏的小型中层游泳生物数据集：该数据集采集于1992年至2018年间，覆盖澳大利亚东南部、南部海域及印度洋周边6个区域内的13次科考调查。本次调查采用分层深度采样、整合采样方案，并开展了部分昼夜与季节重复采样工作。为保障不同调查数据的横向可比性，研究团队采用统一方法对数据进行标准化处理，以生成标准化的滤水体积估算值。
