The Sediment Echo Sounder surveys the upper layers of the seafloor via the reflection of acoustic signals. Depending upon the reflectivity of the sediments penetration depths of about 200 m can be reached. The Parasound P70 (Teledyne RESON, previously ATLAS) was in operation 24 hours per day in the main working areas during Polarstern expedition PS138, covering parts of the Nansen Basin, Amundsen Basin and the Gakkel Ridge. Raw primary high frequency (PHF) and secondary low frequency (SLF) echo sounding data were retrieved during POLARSTERN cruise PS138 (ArcWatch-1) and are archived here in ASD and PS3 format.
本数据集采用沉积物回声测深仪(Sediment Echo Sounder)基于声信号反射原理对海底上层地层进行探测。根据沉积物的反射率特性,该设备可实现约200米的地层穿透深度。本次所用的Parasound P70(泰莱顿·瑞森Teledyne RESON,原隶属于ATLAS),在极星号(Polarstern)第138次科考航次(PS138)的核心作业区内实现24小时连续运行,作业范围覆盖南森盆地(Nansen Basin)、阿蒙森盆地(Amundsen Basin)以及加克海脊(Gakkel Ridge)的部分区域。本数据集包含极星号PS138航次(ArcWatch-1)获取的原始高频主波束(PHF)与低频次波束(SLF)回声测深数据,数据以ASD及PS3格式归档存储。
