Over approximately two years, 120 mL glass simulated glass water heaters (SGWHs) were used with three-times weekly water heaters to represent a water heater environment. Influent water was manipulated with granular activated carbon filtration and additions of carbon. SGWHs were amended with various materials present in hot water systems, including iron, PEX pipe coupons and copper pipe coupons. Over time, temperature was also manipulated.
