资源简介:
This study highlights the development and application of a novel capture-based long-read sequencing approach, CArP, designed to enhance pathogen surveillance. The method combines targeted gene enrichment with the contextual insights of long-read sequencing, providing a highly efficient and flexible tool for pathogen screening. In this initial version, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes are used as markers to improve specificity, demonstrating the potential to detect and characterize pathogens more effectively compared to alternative strategies like metagenomic shotgun sequencing (MGS). The modular design of CArP allows for future expansion to include additional marker genes, enabling broader pathogen coverage. This approach offers a valuable foundation for advancing pathogen detection and supports global efforts in pandemic preparedness and response.
