资源简介:

390 short webcam clips from 26 home sessions (25 children, aged about 4 to 29 months; one child took part twice), recorded in 2019–2020 on MIT's Lookit platform as part of the BabyJokes (Lookit Laughter) study at Goldsmiths, University of London. The study looked at laughter as a social response: how infants and parents connect through shared play. In each session a parent played five simple games with their child, three times each, while the child's webcam recorded. The clips show natural parent–child interaction in the family's own home. After each attempt, the parent said whether the baby laughed and rated how funny the baby found it. The five games (file-name label in brackets) Peekaboo (Peekaboo): the parent sits facing the baby, hides their face behind their hands for several seconds, then reappears saying "Peekaboo!". Nom nom nom (NomNomNom): the parent bites a napkin and makes a muffled "nom nom nom" sound. That's not a hat! (ThatsNotAHat): the parent puts a cup or container on their head and says "Look at my new hat!". Tearing paper (TearingPaper): the parent shows the baby a sheet of paper, then very deliberately tears it into two pieces. That's not a cat! (ThatsNotACat): the parent shows the baby a toy animal and has it make the wrong sound, for example a cow saying "meow!". Files babyjokes-public-v1.0.zip: the 390 .mp4 clips in one folder (about 447 MB, stored without compression). babyjokes-public-clips.csv: one row per clip, with child ID, session, game, position, repetition, take, the child's age in days and a SHA-256 checksum. babyjokes-public-ratings.csv (new in version 1.1): for each clip, the parent's answers to "Did your baby laugh?" (No/Yes) and "How funny did your baby find this joke?" (five points, from Not funny to Extremely funny), given straight after each attempt. README.md: the file-naming scheme and full details. Consent Only sessions where parents chose the most open sharing level (publicity) and agreed to Databrary sharing are included. A larger set (1,380 clips, 90 sessions) shared under the "scientific and educational" permission is on Databrary for authorised researchers: BabyJokes: infants and parents playing laughter games at home (Lookit 2019–2020). Ethics approval: Goldsmiths, University of London, Department of Psychology (reference 1408). Please cite this record if you use the clips, and don't try to identify the families. Version 1.1 adds the parents' ratings, which were left out of version 1.0. The clips are unchanged.
