As part of the Department of Pesticide Regulation’s (DPR) mandate for continuous evaluation of registered pesticides, DPR initiated a multi-year statewide Air Monitoring Network (AMN) beginning in 2011 to measure pesticide concentrations in the ambient air in several California agricultural communities. When considering the placement of a new long-term AMN air monitoring station, DPR follows a site selection procedure to evaluate communities across California. This process is updated with new data every 3-6 years and informs decisions on potential stations to be added to the Air Monitoring Network (AMN). The full technical details of the process are described in DPR's Air Monitoring Site Selection: Standard Operating Procedure. This web layer represents the proposed potential monitoring sites for the Air Monitoring Network as outlined in the prioritization framework. Data Definitions: 1) GEOID = Numeric codes that uniquely identify all administrative/legal and statistical geographic areas for which the Census Bureau tabulates data. 2) Community = Community name. 3) County = County name. 4) Pesticide Type = The pesticide category that the community ranked in. 5) Fumigant Use Rank = The community's fumigant rank. NA means that either the community had no fumigant use or ranked lower than 50. 6) Organophosphate Use Rank = The community's organophosphate (OP) rank. NA means that either the community had no OP use or ranked lower than 50. 7) Population Characteristic Percentile = The average Population Characteristic (PC) percentile for the community. The PC percentile is from CalEnviroScreen 4.0 by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA). The PC percentile rates sensitive population indicators as well as socio-economic factors.
