Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Beech Court Pavilion, Abingdon School, Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire 2022

The digital archive contains report, site records, images, GIS and spreadsheets from archaeological works which comprised the excavation of four trenches, all of which measured c 14m by c 1.6m representing a c 4% sample of the proposed development area at Beech Court Pavilion, Abingdon School, Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire. The work was undertaken by Oxford Archaeology (south) between 7th February and 10th February 2022. The trenches were positioned to target areas of significant impact from the proposed development, including the proposed footprint of the building and two soakaways, whilst also providing an even coverage of the site and avoiding on-site constraints. The modern overburden from each trench was removed using an eight tonne 360 mechanical digger under constant archaeological supervision. Subsequent excavation proceeded by hand and recording was in accordance with methodologies set out in the WSI.
