Data for the paper “Nature relatedness rather than species knowledge facilitates biodiversity-friendly food choice” published in Ecology & Society

The dataset comprises data obtained by interviewing 463 citizens from two small towns in East Germany (Delitzsch and Eilenburg) about their biodiversity knowledge, their nature relatedness, their felt responsibility for biodiversity conservation, and their food choice. The aim of the study was to test a proposed pathway from human-nature connection (cognitive and emotional) to felt responsibility to food choice among the wider public in the model region of the BMBF-funded project ECO²SCAPE. The data comprise demographic information on the participants (demo.RData), responses to Likert-scale questions referring to the peoples emotional relatedness to nature, their felt responsibility, and their food choice (likert.RData), freelists for birds of agricultural habitats (FreelistBirds.RData), and freelists of plants of agricultural habitats (FreelistPlants.RData).
